Fellowship FAQ
When are the dates of the fellowship?
We usually start the first Monday in June and end on the last Friday in July
Does the fellowship cost anything and what is paid for?
There is no cost (tuition) to be in the fellowship. Additionally, all housing and transportation to and from the hospital are paid for. We do this with subway Metro cards as well as signing you up to the departmental Uber account. For food, we supply meal vouchers for breakfast and lunch at the hospital restaurant Au Bon Pain. Dinners are your responsibility.
Where is the housing?
The housing is in a dormitory style hotel in Manhattan, The New Yorker. It is located near Madison Square Garden and the subway stations. This area is managed by an organization, studenthousing.org, that assures a wonderful living experience with free Wi-Fi and other amenities of the hotel that you will have access to.
When is the research started?
In the first week, you will be given a list of potential research projects for the summer. We carefully choose these to answer an important question in orthopaedics and design it such that you are able to complete the research during the summer.
Where do we present our research?
We submit our research to a number of national medical meetings and if we are accepted, all the authors get to go, expenses paid, to present the research.
